(Typhim Vi / Vivotif)
Two typhoid vaccine options are available at our clinic: injectable Typhim Vi and oral Vivotif.
Typhim Vi, by Sanofi Pasteur, is a single injection for adults and children aged 2+. Administer at least two weeks before travel for up to three years of protection. Disclose formaldehyde or casein allergies beforehand.
Vivotif is a live oral vaccine for those aged 5+. Take three capsules on days 1, 3, and 5 on an empty stomach with cool water. Requires refrigeration and provides three years of protection.
The typhoid vaccine is recommended for most travellers heading to endemic regions worldwide.

The typhoid vaccine costs £50 for either the injectable Typhim Vi or the oral Vivotif course. No separate consultation fee applies when the vaccine is administered on the day of your appointment.
Injectable Typhim Vi is a single-visit dose, while oral Vivotif involves three capsules taken over five days at home. Both protect for three years. Vivotif requires refrigeration and cannot be used with antibiotics, during stomach illness, or near antimalarial starts.
Get the Typhim Vi injection at least two weeks before departure. Book early, especially if taking antimalarials, as they can impact Vivotif timing.
No. Wait at least three days after finishing antibiotics (longer for azithromycin) and inform your pharmacist of recent use. Postpone Vivotif if you have vomiting or diarrhoea.
Yes. Typhim Vi is for ages 2+ and Vivotif for ages 5+. Children under 2 cannot receive either. Your clinician will provide the age-appropriate option.
Both provide three years of protection, requiring revaccination every three years. Your clinician can advise on schedules for frequent travel.
