Campers and outdoor adventurers
Outdoor sleeping provides prolonged overnight exposure to woodland ticks
Children in rural or forested settings
Proximity to ground vegetation and less thorough checks elevate risk

Continuous presence in dense tick and reservoir animal habitats
Long-stay travellers and expats in endemic regions
Multi-season stays in endemic areas lead to high cumulative bite risk

There is one pharmacy here, some very odd opening hours and long lunch break, some parking spaces behind at £2:40 minimum for first hour, if no spaces "walk the gauntlet" through Chatham High Street to get there!!
If your trip is entirely urban with no time in forested or rural areas, your TBE risk is very low and vaccination may not be necessary. Your clinician will assess your itinerary and give you an honest recommendation based on where you are actually going.
Each dose costs £60. A 2-dose pre-travel course costs £120 and the full 3-dose primary course costs £180 in total. No separate consultation fee applies when the vaccine is administered on the day.
Two doses provide pre-travel protection. Typically, Dose 2 is given 1 to 3 months after Dose 1, or after 14 days on a rapid schedule. Dose 3 must be administered 5 to 12 months after Dose 2, usually following your return.
After completing the full primary course, your first booster is recommended at 3 years. After that, further boosters are recommended every 5 years for patients under 60 and every 3 years for patients aged 60 and over, as long as exposure risk continues.
Yes. TicoVac Junior is licensed for children from 1 year of age up to and including 15 years. TicoVac adult is used for those aged 16 and over. Children under 1 year cannot receive either product.
No. The TBE vaccine is not routinely available on the NHS and must be obtained privately. We offer it as a private service at our Chatham clinic with same-day availability for the first dose.
