Ixiaro is the only JE vaccine licensed in the UK, well-tolerated, effective, and suitable for adults and children from 2 months of age.
Ixiaro is an inactivated vaccine given as two doses over 28 days, or 7 days if time's tight. Boosters at 12 months and 10 years maintain protection.
Mild soreness, headache, or fatigue usually clears within days. Serious reactions are rare. We complete a full eligibility check before vaccinating and discuss any allergies beforehand.
Rural travellers in endemic regions
Proximity to rice paddies, pig farms, or wetlands raises dusk and dawn mosquito exposure.
Long-stay travellers and expats
Longer stays in endemic regions increase the probability of infected mosquito bites.
Backpackers and outdoor adventurers
Rural trekking, cycling, or camping heightens contact during peak mosquito feeding times.
Travellers during monsoon season
Transmission risks peak during and immediately following the rainy season.
Children travelling to rural Asia
Children are at higher risk due to outdoor activity and inconsistent repellent use.
Agricultural and wildlife workers
Frequent exposure to standing water and rural environments increases vocational risk.
Travellers in budget or outdoor accommodation
Budget accommodation often lacks the screens or air conditioning needed to block mosquitoes.

There is one pharmacy here, some very odd opening hours and long lunch break, some parking spaces behind at £2:40 minimum for first hour, if no spaces "walk the gauntlet" through Chatham High Street to get there!!
