Measles is incredibly contagious; one person can infect 18 others nearby. Thankfully, this serious, common disease is easily prevented with a simple vaccine.
Measles spreads through the air in droplets and can stay in the air for two hours after an infected person leaves an area. Transmission does not require direct contact.
Mumps spreads through contact with saliva or respiratory droplets from an infected person. Sharing food, drinks, or utensils in crowded settings increases transmission risk.
The most recognisable sign is painful swelling of the parotid glands on one or both sides of the face. In adults, mumps can lead to orchitis in men and oophoritis in women and, rarely, viral meningitis.
Rubella is spread by respiratory droplets from the cough or sneeze of an infected person. It can also be passed from a pregnant woman to her unborn child via the placenta.
Rubella is generally a mild illness, characterised by a fine pink rash, a low-grade fever and swollen lymph nodes. Some people can be infected and have no symptoms, making it easy to spread without knowing it.
Both MMRVAXPRO and Priorix protect against measles, mumps, and rubella. We offer a gelatin-free option; just ask. Two doses give full, lasting protection.

That depends on your immunisation record. If you haven’t had the MMR vaccine or only had one dose, you’ll need two doses, at least four weeks apart. If you have had 2 previous doses, you are fully protected.
Each dose is £50. A top-up dose is £50, and the full two-dose course is £100. If the vaccine is given on the day, there’s no separate consultation fee.
No. The MMR vaccine is a live vaccine and should not be given to women who are pregnant or breastfeeding. You should also not become pregnant for at least one month after vaccination.
Yes. MMRVAXPRO contains pig gelatin (porcine gelatin). If for religious, diet or personal reasons you are unable to consume a pork-derived product, please let us know at the time of booking. As an alternative, we can offer Priorix, which is gelatine-free.
In many cases yes, but there is an important caveat. MMR should not be given within 4 weeks of another live vaccine such as yellow fever or oral typhoid (Vivotif). Your clinician will carefully plan your vaccinations.
Two doses of the measles, mumps, rubella (MMR) vaccine are believed to confer lifelong protection. A single dose confers good but not complete immunity, especially against mumps.
